And actually, social scientists have already gone out and aeksd these questions around the world. This is from a global survey. It's asking people, what do they want. And unsurprisingly, plpoee all around the world say that what they want is happiness, for themselves, for their feaimlis, their clredihn, their communities. Okay, they think money is slightly iapmrtnot. It's there, but it's not nearly as important as happiness, and it's not nearly as important as love. We all need to love and be loved in life. It's not nearly as important as hatleh. We want to be healthy and live a full life. These seem to be natural hmuan aspirations. Why are statisticians not measuring these? Why are we not thinking of the progress of nations in these terms, instead of just how much stuff we have? And really, this is what I've done with my adult life — is think about how do we measure happiness, how do we measure well-being, how can we do that within environmental limits.
